Dear Neighbors:

On Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010 our neighborhoods will elect a brand new City Councilperson to fill the vacant seat of Clarence Davis (P). My name is Emma Mulvaney-Stanak and I hope that you will consider supporting me for City Council.

I have lived and been involved the Old North End for over seven years, renting for almost of all those years either in Ward 3 (for two years) or Ward 2 (for five years). This time last year, I ran and won a seat on the City Council in Ward 2 and worked throughout 2009 to address issues such as affordable housing and livable wages for residents of the Old North End. As some of you may have heard, in December I was fortunate it enough to purchase my first home on Front Street, here in Ward 3 and as a result, I had to resign my Ward 2 seat---despite my disappointment of having to leave my work for Ward 2, I am excited to finally have permanent roots in the Old North End!

A big reason for my campaign for Clarence Davis' seat here in Ward 3, is to ensure that we keep this seat progressive---ensuring that the needs of our working class neighbors are kept in the forefront of the conversation in City Hall. I am eager to meet all of you and re-establish my connection with Ward 3 during this campaign, so look for me at your doorstep soon!

Already on my door knocking adventures, you and your neighbors have told me that they want:

Quality neighborhood schools that welcome all students no matter how much money their families make or where they are from;

Assistance in making our homes and apartments more energy efficent and safe for residents, in order to protect the planet and our families.

Good paying, local jobs that pay a livable wage with health care for our families. Burlington should help Burlington residents to afford to live, work, and play within their city.

A City Councilperson who values our opinions and participation in our Ward and who will help us make the Old North End a great place to live.

I look forward to talking with each of you over the next few weeks. Please feel free to contact me at 540-0185 or emma[at]emmaforcitycouncil.com to discuss the challenges we face or to request a ballot by mail.

Sincerely,
Emma Mulvaney-Stanak
